I had the rare opportunity to serve under two successive governments in Myanmar—one led by the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) chaired by U Thein Sein, and the other by the National League for Democracy (NLD) chaired by Nobel Peace Laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. During my ten-year tenure in various ministerial roles under these consecutive administrations, until the military coup in February 2021, I was fortunate to gain extensive experience, deepen my understanding, and contribute my humble knowledge toward improving Myanmar’s economic policy environment. I remain deeply grateful to all those—both individuals and institutions, national and international—from whom I learned and with whom I worked throughout this journey.
Now, I have started a new chapter in my life, returning to research in economics, finance, and economic policy—fields I had worked in across various countries before joining the government of Myanmar. I intend to continue publishing my research internationally, with the aim of sharing my humble experience and insights into economic and financial policymaking.
